Fusion/Home Assistant und Schalter/en

Aus WetterCube Wiki
Dies ist die englische Fassung. Zur deutschen Fassung

The WetterCube Fusion works with Home Assistant in both directions: it reports its values (outside weather, moon, UV, air quality, pollen, airing, alarms, internal sensor) and it switches devices that you add as tiles on the display. Both run through your MQTT broker (for example Home Assistant's Mosquitto add-on), so over the same connection as the sensors. No account and no cloud needed.

Requirements

  • An MQTT broker in your home network, connected to Home Assistant with the MQTT integration.
  • The WetterCube is connected to the broker (web interface → Sensoren, step 1 "Verbinden").

Home Assistant: values of the WetterCube

  1. Web interface → Smart Home → card Home Assistant (MQTT) → switch on Home Assistant melden and save.
  2. After a few seconds the device WetterCube Fusion appears in Home Assistant under Settings → Devices & services → MQTT. Home Assistant creates the sensors itself (MQTT discovery), you do not have to write any YAML. The line Stand (status) in the card shows how far the registration is; Jetzt neu melden sends everything again.

These entities exist:

Group Entities
Weather outside temperature, feels-like temperature, minimum and maximum temperature today, outside humidity, air pressure, wind speed, wind direction, weather (text), UV index now and daily maximum
Moon moon phase (text), moon illuminated (%)
Air air quality (AQI), particulates PM2.5 and PM10, ozone, nitrogen dioxide
Pollen strongest pollen level (0 to 3) and the main allergen
House airing (text of the traffic light), airing recommended, humidity warning, sensor alarms (count) and sensor alarm (on/off), DWD warnings (count)
Case temperature, humidity and air pressure of the internal sensor (only if installed)

The state is sent as one JSON to the topic wettercube-fusion/zustand, on change (at most every 5 seconds) and at least once a minute. The topic wettercube-fusion/status reports online or offline (the broker's last will): when the WetterCube is off, Home Assistant shows its entities as "unavailable". The prefix can be changed. Sensors the WetterCube reads over MQTT (for example your ESPHome sensors) are not sent back: Home Assistant knows them already.

Switching off removes the device and its entities from Home Assistant again.

Without MQTT: /api/status

The address http://wettercube-fusion.local/api/status returns the same values as JSON, for example for a REST sensor in Home Assistant:

rest:
  - resource: http://wettercube-fusion.local/api/status
    scan_interval: 60
    sensor:
      - name: "WetterCube outside temperature"
        value_template: "{{ value_json.temp }}"
        unit_of_measurement: "°C"

Switch tiles: switching devices from the display

⚠️ Be careful when switching: Anyone switching sockets or lamps quickly deals with mains voltage (230 V). Only use ready-made, tested and approved devices (for example smart plugs) and have any work on the house wiring done by a qualified electrician. Do not use the switches for safety-critical purposes (heating, cooker, medical or safety equipment): the device can fail or switch wrongly. You act at your own risk.

On the sensor page of the display, switch tiles (up to 8) appear after the sensors. A tile shows name, room and a switch with "An" (on), "Aus" (off) or "?" (state not known yet). Tapping toggles it. A green border means on.

Setup: web interface → Schalter (tab at the top).

  1. Take devices from the network: Home Assistant reports its switches and lights to the broker (MQTT discovery). They appear in step 1 with a checkbox; Ausgewählte hinzufügen takes over command topic, state topic and the texts for on and off.
  2. By hand: under "Schalter von Hand hinzufügen" enter the name, the command topic (where the WetterCube sends) and optionally the state topic (where the state comes back from), plus the texts for "on" and "off" (default ON and OFF).
  3. In the list (step 2) you can change name and room, hide tiles and test with an and aus. Under "Erweiterte Einstellungen" you find topics, texts, a JSON key (if the state is inside a JSON message) and the order.

Without a state topic the WetterCube only remembers what it sent last. If the broker cannot be reached, the tile briefly shows "kein MQTT" (no MQTT) when tapped.

Examples:

Device Command topic State topic Send on / off
Tasmota cmnd/<name>/POWER stat/<name>/POWER ON / OFF
Shelly (MQTT) shellies/<id>/relay/0/command shellies/<id>/relay/0 on / off
ESPHome switch <name>/switch/<switch>/command <name>/switch/<switch>/state ON / OFF

Lamp with WLED: Home Assistant normally connects WLED through its own WLED integration (HTTP), not over MQTT. Such devices therefore do not show up on the page Schalter by themselves: the WetterCube only talks to the MQTT broker. Here is how it works anyway:

  1. In WLED under Config → Sync Interfaces → MQTT switch on the connection to the same broker (address, port, user and password as on the Sensoren page, step 1) and note the device topic (default wled/ plus six characters, for example wled/ab12cd).
  2. With the default topic the lamp appears on the page Schalter by itself as "WLED …" in step 1; tick it and add it. Otherwise enter name and device topic under "Meine Lampe taucht hier nicht auf" and press WLED hinzufügen.
  3. Behind it: the command ON or OFF goes to the device topic, the state comes from <topic>/g (brightness, "greater than 0" means on). Color and effects stay in WLED and Home Assistant; the tile only switches on and off.

The switches are part of the settings backup (commands and topics, no password).
